Is the flash seated correctly in the camera's hot shoe? Is the flash turned on and does it function? There should be a test button that fires it even if it's not connected to the camera. If the flash is not firing at all, I would check these things: That just means you'll have to experiment by setting the flash power up and down manually until you get a result you are pleased with. Do you mean that the flash is not firing at all? Or do you mean that it is not firing at a power level that gives you a proper exposure?Īs mentioned above, it's not a TTL flash. I think you need to better define "getting it to work". It should work.īut I do know that the 60D manuals says to disable "Silent shooting" when using manual flashes. I've never tried to put it into the 60D's hotshoe. That being said, I've got the YN-560 III and use it for all sorts of off-camera stuff, and really enjoy it. Since you say that you're a novice, I'd send it back and get a Canon EX speedlight. No, you didn't buy a TTL (and you'd want to look for "E-TTL" for Canon, anyway) flash, you bought a very capable, advanced manual flash. I thougth I bought a TTL flash? I am probably making a complete fool of myslelf here.

I have my supsicion I will need a "flash trigger"? Or not?Ĭan anyone please explain to me how I can get my camera and flash to work. I mounted the flash onto the camera and tried different settings. I have no idea how I will get it to work. I have a Canon 60D and just bought a YONGNUO YN-560 III.

Ok, I am a complete novice regarding speedlites, so please be patient and respond like I am a total dummy, cause I am.
